Nebraska sues Roblox for what AG calls enabling child exploitation, deceptive safety practices

March 4, 2026

LINCOLN — Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers sued Roblox, alleging that the gaming platform enables child exploitation while using deceptive safety messaging. The suit argues that Roblox markets itself as safe for families even as minors are exposed to sexual content, anonymous contact with adults and other dangerous material.

State officials say the platform’s protections are inadequate and can be easily bypassed. The complaint also argues that Roblox’s public statements to parents do not match the actual user experience for children on the service.

Nebraska is seeking court action that could require stronger guardrails, including age and identity verification and broader reforms aimed at child safety on the platform.
