Attorney General Bird Leads Charge to Crack Down on Illegal Chinese E-Cigarettes that Target Kids

April 10, 2025

DES MOINES — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird announced that she is leading a multistate effort urging the Trump administration to continue combatting the flood of illegal Chinese e-cigarettes entering the United States and targeting kids.

Bird said the states want stronger enforcement against products that are sold illegally and marketed in ways that appeal to children. The effort includes other attorneys general and Guam and focuses on stopping youth-targeted products from gaining further ground in the American market.

The announcement highlights growing pressure from states for federal action against unlawful vaping products imported from China and sold in ways that officials say endanger minors.
